Traditional Chinese homes, most of which I captured in ancient villages in Wuyuan near Jingdezhen and Huangshan in Jiangxi Province, tell many stories about the lives of ordinary Chinese people. I find beauty in the simplicity of these spaces. Each setting evokes an epoch, like a treasure of time. It’s a bit unsettling these places are slowly disappearing, giving way to the allure of modernity.
